The hearing on the appeal protest filed by the prosecutor against the sentence handed down against Vasif Sarkhanov, accused of fraud, abuse of power and forgery, has ended at the Baku Court of Appeal.

According to information obtained by Pravda.az, the decision was announced in the trial presided over by Judge Habil Mammadov.

According to the decision, the appeal protest was partially satisfied, the ruling of the Yasamal District Court of June 10, 2024 was modified in relation to the appeal of sentence and the sentencing calculation part. Thus, he was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months of restriction of freedom (electronic bracelet) with deprivation of the right to manage residential and non-residential areas in the cooperative building for 2 years and 6 months.

It should be noted that, according to official information, an investigation was carried out in the Yasamal district prosecutor’s office on the basis of a citizen’s appeal about the illegal actions of Vasif Sarkhanov, chairman of MTK “Victory-Inshaat”. Investigations revealed that Vasif Sarkhanov, while working as director of the MTK, abused his official powers to obtain illegal income, located in the basement of a multi-storey residential building built at 71A, H. Zardabi Avenue, Yasamal district of the capital. that it was entrusted to him for rent and that it was the property of a stranger, reasonable suspicions were established that he resold the residential area to another person on the basis of forged documents.

Vasif Sarkhanova was charged with articles 178.2.3, 178.2.4 (large amount of fraud through the use of the position of servant), 308.1 (abuse of official authority) and 313 (falsification of position) of the Criminal Code.

It should be noted that the MTK head already lived a life of convictions.
