The Seprona of the command of the Civil Guard of Córdoba, as part of the services it develops in the province to prevent poaching, has carried out an investigation into three people for the commission of a crime against flora and fauna and one of them was also investigated for an alleged crime against animals.
The investigation was developed during a verification system for hunting activities, carried out in a reserve located in the commune of Montoro (Cordoba)where several people equipped with hunting weapons and assisted by dogs, carried out large-scale wild boar hunting “by hand”, a method which was not authorized at the date of the facts, as provided for in the general order of hunting bans. . Hunting season 2024/2025.
When identifying the participants, three of them could not prove that they were authorized by the person who owned the hunting rights of the reserve. The first steps revealed that during the hunting action one of the dogs used had been killed. The animal, at first, was in a state of excessive fatigue and exhaustion, unable to walk, and died shortly after, probably due to excessive work, due to the high temperatures.
For all these reasons, three people were investigated as suspected perpetrators of a crime against flora and fauna, with one of them also being investigated for an alleged crime against animals. Likewise, the personnel concerned were informed complaint files for hunting during the closed period, for hunting in a reserve without authorization from its owner and for hunting without a hunting license, which were sent to the delegate for sustainability, environment and blue economy of Cordoba.
Likewise, it was proposed to the Arms Intervention of the Cordoba Command to withdraw the weapons permit from alleged perpetrators. The investigations, the weapons seized and the prosecutions initiated were made available to the Judicial Authority.
