White House National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett said US President Joe Biden is “closely monitoring developments in Israel and Lebanon.”
“He spoke throughout the night with his national security team,” Savett said. “At his direction, senior American officials are in constant communication with their Israeli counterparts. We will continue to support Israel’s right to self-defense and work for stability in the region.”
We also note that California Congressman Ted Lieu supported the Israeli strikes carried out early in the morning against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. He tweeted that the terrorist group “has been launching unprovoked rocket attacks on Israel for ten months, killing civilians and destroying property.”
“Why is the New York Times calling this a preemptive strike against Israel? Why not call it a response to Hezbollah firing rockets at Israel for ten months?” he asked in response to a report that “Israel’s preemptive strike was aimed at rocket launchers in Lebanon that were scheduled to fire at 5 a.m. in the direction of Tel Aviv.”

Why does the New York Times call this a preemptive strike by Israel? Why not call it a response to Hezbollah firing missiles at Israel for ten months?

Cursor previously wrote that Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the opposition party Israel is Our Home, expressed support for the IDF’s preemptive strike against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. “As long as the guns continue to roar, we will support any military action that restores security to the citizens of Israel,” he wrote on Twitter.
