The PSPV has not yet taken up the challenge launched by Compromís and presented a motion of censure against Carlos Mazón, at least for the moment. The proposal reiterated by the general secretary of the Valencian socialists, Diana Morant, continues to be the one announced last Friday: “we are proposing a realistic and transitional solution which is that the PP and Mr. [Alberto Núñez] Feijóo dismisses Mazón to make way for a government with a technical profile focused on reconstruction.”
Morant emphasizes that he “respects and understands” the compromise proposal, but insists that “the motion of censure does not break the PP’s coalition with the far right.” In this way, without the support of the Socialists, the proposal launched this Monday morning by the Valencian party would find itself without sufficient support to even reach the Valencian Parliament because the motion of censure requires the support of at least 20 deputies, while Compromís. has 15, and it is essential to have the support of at least 5 socialist deputies. However, the PSPV does not rule out a motion of censure “if the PP castles”.
Technical and transition advice
Minister Diana Morant, who is also a minister, called on Feijóo and the PP to comment on the proposal presented last Friday, the day of Mazón’s appearance at the Corts. The specific proposal was that the Feijóo “removes the president of the Generalitat, elects a new Consell with a technical profile to deal with the emergency and, once this phase is over, calls early elections in 2025”.
Morant understands that “the Valencian socialists are proposing a realistic and transitional solution”, which will bear fruit in a Provisional Council “focused on reconstruction”, and he insisted that “even Feijóo knows that Mazón cannot stay”. The minister also recalled the situation of the current parliamentary majority, which crystallized in a pact between the PP and the far right: “it is Vox which gives stability to Mazón and with whom a negationist Valencian Generalitat s is granted”.
And in this situation, Vox has already spoken out and will not support any motion of censure against Mazón, not so much because of the final objective of the proposal, but because of whoever presents it. So, even though they claim that Mazón was “negligent” and showed “great incompetence”, the far-right party declared that “we, the separatist parties, do not even go to the end of the path “.
