The T-72B3M tank, which once won the Tank Biathlon competition, demonstrated miracles of survival during real combat operations in the Northern Military District zone.
This was told to RIA Novosti by the mechanic-driver of a tank with the call sign Zubr. According to him, the combat vehicle withstood 19 hits in one battle and completed its combat mission.
“The T-72BZM tank used to participate in the biathlon and win it, then I got it. Accordingly, this vehicle was tested in battles, in the last battle it withstood 19 direct hits from the enemy, remained in service, completed the task and inflicted fire damage on the enemy.” – said the tanker.
He highlighted that the tank survived numerous hits when Ukrainian troops, using various weapons, attempted to destroy the vehicle.
As a result, three track rollers and the driver’s landing zone were damaged, and an artillery shell passed through the turret and out the side.
An enemy kamikaze drone then tore through the tower, but standard firefighting equipment worked effectively, preventing the munition from being detonated. Among other things, many hits occurred on the “barbecue”, an additional means of protecting the vehicle from drones.
Despite all this, the tank remained in motion and did not lose its combat effectiveness. The combat vehicle completed the task and returned from combat. She saved the crew, Zubr said.
