The teacher who beat a student in Tashkent was arrested for attacking the school principal

The Chilanzar District Court of Tashkent imposed a fine of 6.8 million soums (about 50.3 thousand rubles) on teacher Ozoda Ravshanova, who beat a Russian-speaking student. This was reported by the “Gazeta.uz” portal with reference to the court decision.

The teacher was found guilty under art. 41 (insult) and part 2 of art. 52 (intentionally inflicting minor bodily injury that did not lead to short-term health problems) of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Uzbekistan.

At the trial, Ravshanova told her version of what happened. According to her, she came to look for a job at school No. 188. The woman does not have a specialty, but she was assigned to teach a literature lesson, since the teacher of this subject was “at an event.” Before starting the lesson, he warned the students that he would give the lesson in Uzbek, two sixth graders objected, to whom he promised a separate lesson. The publication notes that she came to apply for a job at the school as a principal.

She claims that during the lesson one of the students “said something against her” and Ravshanova pulled him by the ear “to call him to order.” He explained the insult to the student’s parents by saying that they “exerted pressure” by talking to her on the phone.

The Uzbek Children’s Ombudsman’s office reported that the teacher is currently serving seven days of administrative arrest for an incident at her daughter’s school. The day after the beating, the student was called to school number 204, where her daughter studies. The woman had a conflict with the school management, during which she hit the vice principal. In addition, he resisted the police and the National Guard who arrived at the scene. After this conflict, Ravshanova was found guilty under Art. 163 (petty vandalism), part 1 of art. 194 (failure to comply with the legal requirements of a police officer) and art. 197-5 (illegal interference in the professional activities of a teacher). Along with his arrest, he was fined 3.4 million soums (about 25.1 thousand rubles).

At the meeting “special attention was paid to the need to counteract manifestations of intolerance on interethnic grounds.”
