Last Central Operational Unit report (UCO) of the Civil Guard, to which LaSexta had access, refers several times to Pedro Sánchez, whom Víctor de Aldama called “the 1” in several conversations he had with the CEO of Air Europa.
Commissionaire Víctor de Aldama asked the government of Pedro Sánchez to save Air Europa with aid of 435 million euros. According to the UCO, “the conversations found in the intercepted electronic devices allow us to appreciate in an indicative way how Aldama used his relationship with Koldo and Ábalos to influence the final granting of the ransom to Air Europa.”
Aldama was in constant contact with Javier Hidalgo, then CEO of the airline. and informed him of the measures that the Government was taking. “They continue to talk tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. I go through the ministry […] First thing tomorrow morning it’s ‘1’she ‘the one from the hacienda’ and him and the decision has been made that this will happen but tomorrow, when I am with him, I will tell you”, is one of Aldama’s messages that he sends to Hidalgo.
Indeed, the UCO explains that “in accordance with the previous message, on July 16, 2020, the President of the Government met, whom Aldama, when speaking with his relatives, calls “the 1”; Nadia Calviño Santamaría, whom he calls “the one from the hacienda”, and Ábalos, based on the dynamics observed in the aforementioned conversations, and the person who would have informed him of the previous extremes, especially assuming the granting of the second ICO credit”.
The report also states that after several meetings, Aldama writes to Hidalgo that “it seems that everything worked” to refer to the fact that the rescue of the airline was a success: “After the Ábalos-Calviño and Ábalos-Aldama-Hidalgo meetings, both of which took place on July 16, 2020 and during which the rescue of the airline Air Europa were discussed, “the situation would have borne fruit in favor of the airline ‘it seems that everything worked’, information that Ábalos himself would have transmitted to Hidalgo”.
The next day, Aldama wrote to Hidalgo to inform him that Koldo had informed him of the status of this matter, specifying “K told me that he already called you on the 1st, as soon as I know I will tell you that the call worked.” And from there, the report once again mentions that “the 1” would be Sánchez.
“Zero concerns” from the government
Despite the references that the UCO report makes to the President of the Government, There is “no concern” within the Executive that this investigation could affect Pedro Sánchezas government sources assured LaSexta.
From Moncloa, they assure that when the scandal broke out, “they acted quickly and transparently by opening a file on Ábalos” and proposing a commission of inquiry to Congress.
Concerning Air Europa, They emphasize that the airline was saved like 30 other companies and they all return this money.
Furthermore, they deny that Pedro Sánchez authorized the visit of Delcy Rodríguez, vice president of Venezuela. The President of the Government said “good” to an official visit to address issues involving Spanish companies, but as soon as it became known that the Venezuelan company had a sanction from Europe, this visit was canceled.
Finally, regarding the involvement of the Civil Guards in the affair, they affirm that they have full confidence in the former director of the Civil Guard because “he has always had impeccable conduct”.
