The leaders of the UGT and the CCOOO oppose an extension of the budget for 2025 and ask to approve new accounts which reflect the new political reality “without the extreme right”.
The general secretary of CCOO of Castilla y León, Vicente Andrés, complained this Friday to the Council, after holding a meeting with the councilors of Economy and Operation, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, and of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Leticia García, from the community. the budgets for the year 2025, which “seek consensus” to approve them within the framework of a “new political reality” in the community without the “extreme right” of the autonomous government. This was stated by Andrés in statements sent to the media after the meeting which was also attended by the leaders of the UGT and CEOE Castilla y León, Faustino Temprano and Santiago Aparicio.
After recalling the points on which the union does not agree with “the general lines of the draft budget”Andrés felt that there was still time to move forward and that it would be “important” to have budgets and “seek consensus, political agreement” because the autonomous government finds itself in the minority.
He added that they “urgently” asked the Board of Directors for “new” budgets drawn up “in the necessary terms”. to address a guarantee of public services, the demographic problem and other labor rights and equality issues.”
Although he raised the possibility that the budget would be presented “next Thursday”, the union representative estimated that it would be “out of time” and would lead to an extension during the first months of the year. However, Andrés believes that there is still “time” because he considers it appropriate to do new budgets “adapted to the new economic and political reality”. In this sense, he recalled that in the autonomous government “the extreme right which conditioned policies in favor of workers is no longer present.”
In this sense, he recalled that the budgets in force for the year 2024 are “loaded with reductions in workers’ rights and reductions in equality policies between women and men.” He therefore emphasizes that They would not support an extension of these accounts in 2025 because “it wouldn’t be good” for the community.
That’s why they defend this “It is time for negotiations between the groups to take place”through “partial amendments, specific agreements” and that it be debated, because he considers it positive that the autonomous Parliament “in its maximum expression” develops “the democratic game of negotiation”.
Concerning the points on which he does not agree with the “project” which, he recalls, “is not yet registered nor approved”, he basically underlined “everything that has to do with the taxation and the reduction of taxes from the highest”.
CCOO also expressed its disagreement with the increase in the budget for private health concerts and educational concerts. “It seems to us that the budget for this part is increasingly important,” he noted.
For his part, the regional secretary of the UGT, Faustino Temprano, valued the meeting that the unions and employers held this morning with the Regional Executive by recovering something that, until “Vox enters” in Government, was still being done and who was to convene a meeting to “explain” the budget items before “presenting them to the Cortes”.
The union leader explained that, during the meeting, the Council presented all the issues reflected in the social dialogue. In this sense He spoke out in favor of “new accounts” and those of 2024 are not extended given the fact that they were formed “with Vox in government” and that they represented an “attack on everything that was social dialogue”.
A preliminary draft, that of 2025, which includes positions valued at 333 million and which reflects all the agreements concluded within the social dialogue. At this point he warned that I would not like this tool to become a “currency” reach agreements with “a parliamentary group” to move them forward.
Advancing social policies
Meanwhile, the Council indicated that the meeting is the result of clear and unequivocal commitment of the Government of Castilla y León to social dialogue. A commitment which, in addition to having borne fruit in the signing of major agreements between the Regional Government of Castilla y León and economic and social agents, is also reflected in the desire to involve them in the main instruments of political management that it has enabled the Community to advance social and economic improvements, budgets being one of the main tools for channeling these improvements and obtaining maximum effectiveness from the agreements concluded.
The leaders of the Autonomous Government shared the need to continue developing political action through dialogue and the desire to agree to successfully face the challenges and opportunities of the Community and continue to advance in all aspects that allow to improve people’s living conditions. of Castile and León. Likewise, they agreed on the importance of having accounts that give adequate support for the necessary measures to achieve these objectives shared both by the Government of Castilla y León and by the social and economic agents of social dialogue.
