The Ukrainian Armed Forces have used a flying Kalashnikov assault rifle against the Russian Armed Forces for the first time.

An unusual new weapon has been detected on one of the front lines in eastern Ukraine. BILD reports on the new development based on open data analysis expert Julian Röpke.

“This weapon was developed by a group of Ukrainian engineers Wild Hornets and transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The AK-47 assault rifle was installed on a platform with four propellers, turning it into a flying drone in mid-August. “It was first used to attack Russian troop positions,” the statement says.

The flying machine gun is said to be capable of being controlled from a protected position at a distance of several kilometres from the operator.

According to Repke, the most difficult part of the development was stabilizing the AK-47 during firing, so that the drone would not lose stability due to recoil and ensure accurate shooting.

“It is not yet clear how effective such weapons will be, whether mass production is planned and in what volume,” BILD notes.

At the same time, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, said on Facebook that Ukraine has unmanned systems that the best Ukrainian specialists are working on. The new types of weapons allow attacking enemy military targets at a distance of up to 1,800 km.

“Military airfields, which pose a constant threat to peaceful Ukrainian cities, are subject to air strikes. The entire Russian infrastructure involved in the war has already suffered and will suffer significant losses. Russia has chosen the path of unprovoked aggression and attack on a sovereign state, and is now paying for it,” he wrote.

Earlier, Kursor reported that a ground drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces moved 4 km behind the Russian soldiers and blew up a bridge.
