The UN General Assembly has demanded that Israel liberate Palestine and announced a “new phase of war”

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution demanding that Israel liberate the occupied Palestinian territories. In response, Israel rejected all demands and announced the beginning of a “new phase of war in the north.”

The resolution was adopted with 124 votes in favour, 14 against and 43 abstaining. According to it, Israel must liberate these territories, stop settlement activities and pay reparations for the damage caused. At the same time, the General Assembly set a deadline: Israel must do so “not later than 12 months after the adoption of this resolution.”

In response, Israel called the resolution a “parade of stupidity” and the General Assembly itself “political theatre.”

“Israel rejects the distorted and out-of-touch decision of the General Assembly and thanks the world’s leading countries that did not join the parade of stupidity that took place today in New York,” the Jewish Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “The political theater convened today by the UN General Assembly made a distorted decision, out of touch with reality, encouraging terrorism and harming the chances of peace. This is what self-isolation from the facts looks like. This is what cynical international politics looks like.”

And just now the Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant fixed:

“The center of gravity is moving north (Lebanon is located north of Israel, approx. EADaily). This means that we are transferring forces, resources and energy to the north. But we have not forgotten the hostages or our tasks in the south. We are entering a new phase of the war. This will require courage, determination and perseverance on our part.”
