“Russia expresses its full support for the draft resolution on Gaza prepared by a dozen non-permanent members of the Security Council with a direct demand for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire and the release of all hostages, and calls for its end voting without further delay,” – Nebenzya said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.

According to him, the adoption of this document would be “a late but true step to end the massacre, to bring the Palestinian-Israeli conflict out of the current stalemate and a prologue to restart the peace process on a generally recognized international legal basis, including a two-state solution.”

“There is no other way to achieve a just and sustainable peace in the Middle East” – he added.

The Russian diplomat did not reveal the details of the document.

The Security Council includes 15 countries: five permanent members and 10 temporary members. Permanent: Russia, United States, Great Britain, China and France. They have the right of veto. The remaining ten are elected for a two-year term. For 2023 and 2024, Japan, Ecuador, Switzerland, Mozambique and Malta were chosen, and for 2024-2025, Slovenia, Algeria, Sierra Leone, South Korea and Guyana, clarifies RIA Novosti.
