US and Israeli defense chiefs Lloyd Austin and Yoav Galant agreed during their conversation that “the need to dismantle attack infrastructure” along the Israeli border to ensure that Hezbollah cannot launch an attack against the northern Israel, the Pentagon said.
“They (the ministers) agreed on the need to dismantle attack infrastructure along the border to ensure that Hezbollah cannot carry out attacks similar to the October 7 (Palestinian Hamas attack) in northern Israel,” – the department said in a statement.
Austin also emphasized that a diplomatic solution is needed to ensure that civilians on both sides of the border can safely return to their homes. According to the Pentagon, the ministers discussed the importance of finally moving from military action to diplomacy.
