The number of homeless people in the United States could exceed 653,000 by the end of 2024, setting a new record.
Oku.Az The Wall Street Journal writes about this.
As the publication notes, the number of people living on the streets has already reached 550,000, 10% more than in the same period in 2023. That number continues to rise and is expected to surpass the 2023 record of 653,000 homeless people by the end of the year.
The newspaper cites the influx of immigrants, rising housing prices and rental prices, as well as the fentanyl epidemic as reasons for this crisis.
