The United States has mentioned a new reason for banning kyiv from entering the Russian Federation

In addition, part of the discussions involves destroying Russian airfields and warehouses with long-range Storm Shadow missiles, already available in the Ukrainian arsenal. But since the missiles contain American components, the Biden administration must agree to use them.

But Britain is also dragging its feet: the government is conducting an internal review without even sending a formal request to the United States.

An administration official said the use of Storm Shadow or the military’s tactical missile systems may not be as effective as advertised. The Ukrainian military has a limited supply of missiles and they may not hit critical Russian targets that are already out of range.

The United States already allows its long-range missiles to be used inside Russia, but only defensively as counterbattery fire to attack Russian missile launch sites directly along the border.

During a meeting with Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan, the situation in Ukraine was discussed more than once. The bipartisan delegation of senators who attended the meeting with Sullivan had one message: the United States must allow Ukraine long-range weapons before it is too late. Otherwise, the world will remember that the White House “did not do everything it could.”

However, this formulation angered White House officials, since, firstly, the United States has done much more for Ukraine’s victory than any other country, and secondly, it does not want to jeopardize its own national security.

Moreover, officials in some parts of the White House have made it clear that they are open to a reset in relations with Moscow. And if long-range missile strikes are allowed, all efforts will be nullified.

Let us recall that one of the reasons for carrying out the Kursk operation is that Ukraine does not have the opportunity to protect itself from shelling from Russian territory using long-range weapons, which means that it is forced to try to create a buffer zone.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Storm Shadow missiles pose a serious threat to the security of the Russian Federation. The military spoke about this in early 2024.
