Hurricane Milton, approaching the Florida coast, has dropped from a Category 5 to a Category 3, the US National Hurricane Center said in H.
As CNN clarifies, its maximum speed is now 193 km/h. The hurricane’s epicenter is currently less than 100 kilometers off the coast of Florida. The state has already been hit by tornadoes, heavy rains and thunderstorms.
The strength of a hurricane is determined using the five-point Saffir-Simpson scale. The day before, Milton reached category five, meaning the wind speed exceeded 252 km/h. In this context, a discussion began in the United States about whether it was necessary to introduce a sixth category for an element of such strength.
At the end of September, Florida and other southeastern states suffered another devastating hurricane, Helen, which killed at least 270 people, RBC recalls.
