The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions against the Rossiya Segodnya media group and its CEO Dmitry Kiselyov, as well as the TV-Novosti and Evraziya NGOs.
Oku.Az reports that this is stated in the written information provided by the department.
Restrictions were also imposed on Nellie Parutenko, director of the NGO “Evraziya”.
It should be noted that the sanctions are directed against two individuals and three legal entities in connection with Russia’s destabilizing actions abroad. The United States alleges that these individuals conduct covert intelligence and psychological operations using cyber capabilities, including in Africa, Europe, and North and South America. The American side believes that these media outlets closely coordinate the activities attributed to them by the United States with the top leadership of Russia.
The general license published by the department states that operations with media groups Rossiya Segodnya and TV-Novosti will continue until 00:01 EST on November 13, 2024 (09:01 Baku time is permitted until). The Russian Ministry of Finance also renewed the general license, which allows certain operations necessary to acquire or transmit telecommunications involving Russia, which were previously prohibited. The updated license excludes operations with Rossiya Segodnya and TV-Novosti in this zone.
