The United States will allocate new military aid packages to Ukraine

The United States will send new military aid packages to Ukraine, the country’s permanent representative to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said during a meeting of the UN Security Council. Additional arms shipments will be announced in the coming days, he said.

“The United States will continue to increase security assistance to Ukraine, including artillery, air defense, armored vehicles and other necessary equipment and ammunition.” Thomas-Greenfield said.

The diplomat did not specify the size of the new aid package for Kyiv.

Previously, the Pentagon reported that since the start of the military operation in Ukraine, Washington has allocated $182.99 billion to kyiv. The funds were allocated to Operation Atlantic Resolve and other measures to support kyiv. Of these, $131.36 billion went to the security sector.

In particular, $46.51 billion was allocated “to enhance US military activity in Europe.” Another $45.78 billion will go to replacing weapons supplied by the United States. In addition, $43.84 billion went to government programs, in particular the salaries of Ukrainian officials, as well as $4.08 billion to humanitarian aid.

Administration of the current US president joe biden supports Ukraine in the conflict with Russia and provides financial and military support to Kyiv. However, the president elected in November donald trump has repeatedly stated that the American leader is spending billions of taxpayer dollars to support Ukraine. Before the Republican’s inauguration, Biden intends to ask Congress to allocate additional funds to Ukraine by 2025, RBC reminds.
