The University of the Basque Country (UPV) fired the professor who suffered an accident at the Faculty of Law of Leioa (Vizcaya) after his controversial messages on X (former Twitter) became known. The center makes the decision after removing him from teaching after activating the protocol against gender violence envisaged by the institution.
On Thursday last week, just a week after he was hired, he was targeted in his own office, painted red and insulted. Students at the center had discovered homophobic and sexist messages on their social networks and were preparing to prevent them from teaching their classes normally.
Something that happened the next day, while a group of people were waiting for him, preventing the rest of the students from entering the class. The teacher was held against his will for two hours, accompanied by UPV staff, and eventually had to be escorted by security forces.
After these events, the university said it became aware of publications in which, for example, this individual warned women of the consequences if they saw “a stain on a plate or a glass” and claimed that in “Irún , there are a lot of whores and fags.” . “”. The rectorate then decided to open the procedure provided for in the protocol against gender violence and, as a precautionary measure, to dismiss him from his position.
They said the matter would be resolved as soon as possible. Until today, where the UPV itself released a statement confirming the dismissal of the teacher. “There is unanimity among the students that they do not like being taught,” said the university’s secretary general, Aitor Zurimendi, a few days ago.
