The US does not plan to allow Ukraine to launch missiles deep into Russia

The United States will not change its policy on the possibility of allowing Ukraine to attack Russian territory with US weapons, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a briefing.

One of the journalists asked him whether Washington would change its mind about long-range strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Russia.

“As for our policy, to answer the first part of the question, I don’t think anything has changed, I’m not going to talk about a change in policy.” – Jean-Pierre replied.

Ukraine has repeatedly asked its Western partners to allow strikes with high-precision missiles supplied on Russian territory, explaining this by military necessity. In late spring, the United States allowed the Ukrainian military to attack Russian targets on the border, but not beyond.

CNN previously reported that Washington’s reluctance to allow long-range strikes is not due to the risk of escalation, but to the fact that the US has limited stocks of missiles that it can provide to kyiv. At the same time, US authorities will allow Ukraine to fire at greater distances if Russia “tries to expand the front,” the State Department’s assistant chief for Europe said. James O’Brien.

The US statements about the need to allow Ukraine to carry out attacks with American weapons on Russian territory are an irresponsible and dangerous position, the presidential press secretary said. Dmitry PeskovMoscow also promised to respond to attacks on Russian regions.
