The US Secret Service mistakenly included the suicide bombers who carried out the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 among the victims of the tragedy.

“The flag hanging at our headquarters is a sad reminder of the tragedy of September 11. This flag, a symbol of freedom and sacrifice, commemorates the 2,996 people who died,” the portal quoted the Secret Service’s post on the social network “X” as saying. It should be noted that the dead in the terrorist act included 19 suicide bombers from the terrorist group “Al Qaeda”, which committed the attack. Thus, the number of victims of the tragedy was 2,977. The portal clarified that the US Secret Service removed the erroneous post on the same day and replaced it with a corrected version.
It should be noted that on September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists from the “Al-Qaeda” group hijacked four passenger planes in the United States. Two of them were headed to the World Trade Center towers, the tallest buildings in New York at that time, and the third to the Pentagon building located on the outskirts of Washington. The fourth plane was also flying to the US capital, but crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 2,977 people died as a result of terrorist acts.
