The Valencian Vice-President and Advisor for Social Services, Equality and Housing Susana Camarero, denied any resignation within the regional government due to the management of DANA. He claims that “this is not an option” because his only objective is to work on the recovery and reconstruction of the devastated area and that the victims of the tragedy cannot be “abandoned” at the moment.
This is what Camarero declared on Sunday, during a press conference in front of the media, proposing to make an updated assessment of the actions carried out by the Generalitat to face the “ravages” of Dana in Valencia.
Asked about the massive demonstration this Saturday and the demands for resignation of the regional president, Carlos Mazonand his Consell, Camarero said they respect the objective of this appeal, that they embrace “this pain” and that they regret the riots and acts of vandalism by minority groups at the end of this one, although it had been peaceful and they only succeeded in distorting the message of the convening entities.
A few minutes after Camarero’s statements, they moved on to 222 deaths in total caused by DANA, two more people than this Saturday who were found in the Valencian Community, where a total of 214 people died, seven in Castile-La Mancha and one in Andalusia.
For his part, the The number of people rescued totals 36,80382 in the last 24 hours, according to the latest government update.
La Moncloa also reported that 222 autopsies have been carried out so far, three more than this Saturday, of which eight died from causes unrelated to DANA. Thus, at least 195 bodies have already been identified, so that 140 mortal remains have been handed over to relatives.
On the other hand, the number of people arrested by the state security forces and bodies stands at 343 and, in this case, 33 were arrested in the last 24 hours.
