The Vallkirias del Pisuerga encourage Valladolid residents to “show what makes us unique” during the holidays

The Vallkirias del Pisuerga, in charge this Friday afternoon of giving the proclamation with which they began the Fair and Festivities of the Virgin of San Lorenzo in Valladolid, encouraged the people of Valladolid to “show what makes us unique”, among which they mentioned “our gastronomy, our wines, the party”, as well as “the warm welcome of our people and our clubs. This is one of the first messages that Laura Pérez, the first “Vallkiria” to speak before a crowded Plaza Mayor, eager to have a good time, sent from the balcony of the town hall.

He did so with the statue of Count Pedro Ansúrez, who already wore the traditional purple scarf placed by the peñas. He and many other historical figures who passed through Valladolid, such as the Catholic Monarchs, Columbus and Miguel de Cervantes, also mentioned it before remembering with special affection writers such as Rosa Chacel, José Zorrilla and Miguel Delibes, “who took Valladolid through the flag”.

With tempers already heated, another Maestro Saray, another of the “vallkirias”, intervened to thank Mayor Jesús Julio Carnero “and the entire municipal corporation” for the opportunity given to the group, an association of women who suffer or have suffered from breast cancer and who practice and compete in dragon boat, within the BCS (Breast Cancer Survivor) canoe modality. the opportunity to kick off.

For his part, another of his colleagues, the swimmer from Valladolid Henar Alonso Pimentel, wanted to highlight the “good image of a sporty and supportive city” that Valladolid has, recalling that year after year it breaks participation records in the now “classic” March against Cancer. He also encouraged the people of Valladolid to participate in the Guinness record proposal proposed on this occasion by the clubs to remember Concha Velasco.

“All of us who make up the VKP team came to this sport by chance; life gave us another chance and we held on, without fear, looking for hope and the will to live, a way out of a complicated situation, thinking that it would be good for our recovery and it was. With our name as a flag, honoring the city and our river. Like good Castilians: tough, strong, committed, supportive and very hard-working, we have become what we are today. As our anthem says: “they arrive with the shovel always to the beat of the drum, the row of Vallkirias being one heart”, recalled Nachi García, the last to speak, who was grateful to believe in VKP as “a life project, demonstrating that sport is always health, that Valladolid supports it and that Pisuerga has a lot to give to his city.”

Before concluding this moving proclamation, he asked to continue “building bridges that strengthen our relationships” and, in view of the holidays, he recommended living them “with joy, respect and responsibility, demonstrating how great we are and how we do things in Valladolid”. “Remember that everything here is first class”, he said before the Plaza Mayor collapsed with shouts of “Long live Pucela and long live its people!”
