The Auditorium of the Quirónsalud Hospital in Barcelona hosted the V edition of the International Seminar on Patient Experience of the Quirónsalud Group. In this edition, which brought together more than 500 participants in person and online, the main themes were the meaning of value-based medicine and the increasingly participatory role of the patient in their health needs. They explored the the challenges and opportunities that arise when adopting a patient-centered approachas well as best practices and strategies for its implementation.

In this edition, the meeting brought together three high-level international speakers with extensive experience in different areas of patient experience improvement. During his speech, he focused the discussion on the meaning of value-based medicine. A focus on value involves providing high-quality care that results in tangible improvements in patient health and well-being.

He gained international fame after surviving stage IV kidney cancer in 2007. Furthermore, during the meeting, the Awards for Best Patient Experience Initiativeswhich in this edition focused on a project of the University Hospital of Salamanca, on the patient experience as the center of the process in cardiology; and another from the Infanta Elena University Hospital, in Valdemoro, on how frailty is combated in its geriatrics day hospital.
