The velvet season is over in the south of Russia

The velvet season in southern Russia is over and will not return this year; The water temperature in the Black Sea is now significantly higher than the air temperature on the coast, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, told RIA. Novosti.

“A noticeable drop in temperature in the south of European Russia, in the Krasnodar Territory and Crimea. If on Saturday the temperature will still be in the range of 10-15 degrees, then on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday it will be 8-12 degrees… The velvet season ended earlier this week and of course it should not be wait for it to resume as it will cool down and the water temperature”, – Vilfand said.

According to him, now the water temperature in the Black Sea is much higher than the air temperature on the coast. For example, in Sochi it is now about 15 degrees, and at sea it is 20 degrees.
