The upheaval continues at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). The vice-rector of Communication of the University, Ubaldo Cuestapresented his resignation to the University Board of Trustees.
Cuesta confirmed to EL ESPAÑOL that his decision is due to “personal and family” reasons. “Nothing to do with professional issues,” adds the former vice-rector.
The also professor of Information Sciences, with decades of experience at the University, will continue to hold this position, but not that of vice-rector. A position, the latter, for which he was appointed by the rector, Joaquín Goyache, after the last elections to the UCM in 2023.
Ubaldo Cuesta denounced the dean of the Faculty of Sciences a few months ago, Jorge Clemente, for “harassment at work” before the internal authorities of the UCM.
The explanation he then gave was that Clemente had been boycotting various extraordinary chairs for months, three of which were headed by Cuesta himself.
Clemente had already stood out in recent months for confronting the rector of the UCM, Joaquín Goyache, and demanding more information on chairs like the one taught by Begoña Gómez, the wife of Pedro Sánchez, at the Complutense.
In this way, the dean of Information Sciences had become the scourge of the rector and a sort of shadow leader of the opposition in the midst of the scandal over Begoña Gómez’s relations with the University.
