Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze is confident that the conflict in Ukraine will end soon, after which good relations between Tbilisi and the United States and the EU will be restored. This was told to journalists on November 11 at the COP29 climate conference in Baku.
“We need a qualitative restructuring of relations with both the European Union and the United States. Very soon the war in Ukraine will end and all conditions will be created to restore Georgia’s relations with both the EU and the United States.” – said Kobakhidze.
As reported EADailyGeorgia’s relations with the United States and the EU worsened after Tbilisi, in response to Western demands, refused to impose domestic sanctions against Russia. This, according to the Georgian authorities, would mean opening a second front against Russia. Tbilisi’s conflict with Washington and Brussels worsened after the Georgian Dream adopted a law on foreign agents and then a ban on LGBT propaganda.*. Western partners stopped allocating money to the Georgian government; funding was redirected to Georgian NGOs.
