The watch of Arthur Roston, the captain of the ship “Carpathians”, who saved more than 700 passengers from the ocean liner “Titanic”, was sold for 2 million dollars.
Oku.Az The BBC reported about this with reference to the auction house “Henry Aldridge and Son”.
It should be noted that the 18-karat gold “Tiffany” watch was gifted to Roston by the surviving passengers of the “Titanic”, which he saved in 1912. The watch is engraved “With sincere thanks and gratitude to Captain Roston.”
The watch was purchased by a collector from the United States. This is reportedly the highest price ever paid for a Titanic-related item. The previous record was set in April, when Astor’s gold pocket watch sold for nearly $1.5 million at Henry Aldridge and Son.
