Five of the municipalities affected by DANA in the province of Valencia have recovered their water supply, but it is still not fit for human consumption. In around sixty years, it is recommended to boil it before consuming it. According to the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the storm initially left 600,000 people without water, of whom 7,000 remain without access.

The ministry also quantified between four and five million cubic meters of sludge generated, 90% of which is superficial and does not require treatment beyond debris separation, while the remaining 10% belongs to wastewater and discharges. industrial. The location of three quarries and/or mines with impermeable soils to deposit them is sought.

The department headed by Teresa Ribera has also planned an investment of 231 million euros for the repair and replacement of infrastructure linked to the integral water cycle. These are divided into three main tranches: 105 million for drinking water supply infrastructure, 134 million for sanitation and 92 for the development of wastewater treatment plants.

Regarding the impact of the Albufera, the damage to the lake is being assessed, but progress has been made in that flows that could discharge sludge and cause damage to the natural park have been diverted and canals such as the azarbes were used, so that the waters reached the sea directly.
