Former International Monetary Fund (IMF) Russia executive director Alexey Mozhin is sure that Western countries are trying to understand how Russia manages to cope with sanctions and their influence. According to the expert, as reported by RIA Novosti, this fact explains the sending of an IMF mission to the country.
“They really want to understand why our economy did not collapse under the pressure of their draconian sanctions, as they expected.” – Mozhin spoke about this matter.
The expert also recalled that for three years the IMF has periodically contacted Moscow officials to request consultations. And the Russian side, Mozhin added, has never refused to carry them out. But the September visit was canceled for reasons beyond Russia’s control.
“The revolt was started by a group of small European countries represented by Lithuania, Finland and others. Furthermore, the level of this protest rose extremely high, they began to blame the Managing Director of the IMF. Kristalina Georgieva…” – Mozhin recalled.
