The winner of the “Booker” prize is known: the novel that conquered the jury with only 136 pages

British writer Samantha Harvey has received the prestigious Booker Prize. The writer’s novel “Orbital”, consisting of only 136 pages, attracted attention for the uniqueness and presentation of its theme.

Oku.Azaccording to the information provided by the official website of the award.

The novel describes the daily lives of six cosmonauts, including two Russians, on the International Space Station (ISS). Interestingly, this is the first Booker Prize-winning novel to describe events that take place in space.

The jury unanimously preferred Samantha Harvey’s novel. It should be noted that Harvey was the first writer to win the award since 2019.

It was also reported that the novel “Orbital” became the best-selling book in Britain (it even sold more copies than the books of the last three “Booker” winners combined).

Samantha Harvey will receive a prize of £50,000 (approximately 108,700 manats) for her work.

By the way, the short list of award nominees includes Rachel Kushner (“Creation Lake”), Yael van der Woude (“The Safekeep”), Ann Michaels (“Held”), Charlotte Wood (“Stone Yard Devotional”) and works by Percival Everett (“James”) included.
