The Monegasque Charles Leclerc of the Ferrari team won the 19th round of the 2024 Formula 1 world championship: the United States Grand Prix.
Oku.Az reports that the race took place in Austin (Texas) at the “Circuit of the Americas.”
The Spanish Carlos Sainz, Leclerc’s partner at Ferrari, was second. The Dutchman Max Verstappen of “Red Bull” took third place. Verstappen finished fourth ahead of McLaren’s Briton Lando Norris, but Norris moved up to fourth in the protocol. The Briton received a five-second penalty for overtaking.
Leclerc won the World Championship event for the third time this season, before the Monegasque won the Monaco and Italian Grands Prix.
In the individual competition, Verstappen maintains the lead with 354 points, followed by Norris (297 points) and Leclerc (275). In the constructors’ championship, “McLaren” is the leader (544), “Red Bull” is second (504) and “Ferrari” third (496).
The upcoming 20th round of the World Championship will take place in Mexico from October 25 to 27.
