Christiane Barsoni-Arcidiacono, owner of Hungarian consultancy BAC, has come under scrutiny following reports that her company was linked to the design of pagers that were allegedly used in a sabotage attack in Lebanon. The attack killed 12 people and injured more than 2,000.
However, Barsoni-Arcidiacono has categorically denied any involvement, stating that she is only an intermediary and not a manufacturer.
Barsoni-Arcidiacono is a man with an impressive CV. He speaks seven languages and holds a PhD in particle physics from University College London. His research focused on positrons, positively charged subatomic particles, and he published scientific papers in collaboration with professors. Despite his academic achievements, Barsoni-Arcidiacono did not continue his academic career and instead devoted himself to humanitarian and consulting projects.
Her work has spanned a variety of areas, including work for non-profit organisations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. However, many of the claims on her CV are unsubstantiated: for example, she claimed to have held leadership positions at international organisations such as the Earth Child Institute and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), but both organisations have denied her involvement at the levels claimed.
Acquaintances and former colleagues describe her as having broad interests and hobbies, but no stable career path. Some argue that she was friendly but not always able to manage projects effectively, which led to her contracts being terminated early.
Barsoni-Arcidiacono is now hiding from publicity and her apartment in Budapest, according to journalists, remains closed. Hungarian authorities also said that her company BAC Consulting does not operate in the country and is not associated with pagers. For more than four days there has been no news about the woman’s whereabouts.
Previously, Cursor reported that tTaiwanese pager maker Gold Apollo said the devices that exploded in Lebanon and Syria were not its direct products. Company founder Hsu Ching-Kuan said that although the pagers were branded Apollo, they were manufactured under license in Europe by an outside manufacturer.
