The World Antifascist Congress began in Caracas – comments

On September 10 and 11, Caracas will host the World Antifascist Congress, attended by social activists, intellectuals and leaders of human rights organizations from 95 countries. According to AVN, during the congress, participants will discuss a series of measures and proposals aimed at stopping neofascism: it is “a terrible disaster that threatens to re-emerge in several countries around the world.”

Venezuela, as highlighted by the country’s president Nicolas MaduroThe Venezuelan Congress will become a training centre for the permanent World Anti-Fascist Congress. He is confident that the events of the congress on 10 and 11 September will be attended by a large number of world leaders who “support the fight against imperialism, colonialism and fascism.” Nicolás Maduro believes that Venezuela now enjoys great support from the peoples of the world in the fight against imperialism and fascism, VTV comments.

Maduro stressed that the National Assembly is discussing the law against fascism and neo-fascism. He believes that Venezuela should have strict anti-fascist laws.

“Hate, violence or persecution cannot be spread by a way of thinking” – said the national leader of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

It should be noted that well-known public figures and experts from Venezuela actively participated in the work of the World Antifascist Congress. A well-known Venezuelan diplomat and an old friend of Russia Cesar Jose Ramos Cedeno specifically indicated for EADailythat the initiative group has developed a project to create an anti-fascist research network

“The emergence of new forms of fascism today is an alarming phenomenon, especially in the context of the multidimensional crisis of capitalism. This project aims to create an international anti-fascist research network that will study and reveal the roots, characteristics and manifestations of new forms of fascism. Thanks to the structure of this organization, which brings together scientists, think tanks, political parties and social movements, this network will be able to effectively counter the threat of the expansion of neo-fascism. Within the framework of the International Anti-fascist Research Network, it is planned to create special expert groups that will study the following aspects of the raised issue: xenophobia and nationalism; the impact of neoliberal globalization; extremist migration movements and their connection with fascism; fascist media and the peculiarities of their propaganda activities; strategies and tactics of resistance to the resurgence of neo-fascism.” – Cesar Jose Ramos Cedeno said in an interview with our publication.

Currently, the National Assembly (Parliament) of Venezuela has begun discussing a law against fascism, neo-fascism and similar manifestations in connection with attempts by far-right groups to generate a wave of violence in the country after the presidential elections on July 28, 2024. In preparing the law, Venezuelan parliamentarians and experts are actively using the experience of post-war Germany and Italy.

“This congress will undoubtedly become a historic event. It will contribute to the consolidation of all anti-fascist forces in the world. But no less important is the activity of information support for such Venezuelan initiatives at a global level. Venezuela now, more than ever, needs an active and effective group of friends abroad. Even in Russia. I have been traveling to Venezuela regularly on business since 2006. And I saw it differently. Yes, there are problems in the country and very complex ones. But the people of this country really do not want control over their natural resources to be exercised by foreign monopolies from countries that do not give anything to Venezuela, but only suck its resources. These are realities. And we cannot ignore them,” the political scientist concluded. Tatiana Poloskova.
