The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) highlighted in a public communication the role played by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) in warning about the dangers of DANA. “AEMET, the official source of authorized alerts in Spain, has issued numerous alerts under the Common Alert Protocol,” says WMO. “It is a standardized message format designed for all media, all hazards and all communication channels. »

The agency’s note emphasizes that it is “a universal format for emergency alerts, which ensures that critical information reaches everyone”, amid the controversy over the unjustified accusations launched by the far right and the right, with Alberto Núñez Feijóo in the lead, to the Spanish meteorological services.

“WMO works with its member national meteorological and hydrological services to ensure that accurate and up-to-date forecasts reach people on time and lead to rapid action,” the organization says. “Our core mission is to save lives and livelihoods and this is what drives the international Early Warning for All initiative. »

The organization emphasizes that its top priority is “saving lives at a time when climate change worsens extreme weather phenomena” and recalls that scientists from the World Weather Attribution group estimated in a rapid analysis of Spain that precipitation were about 12% more intense and twice as intense. probably a consequence of global warming caused by human activity.
