Marratxí celebrated this Sunday the XXIII Tardor Fairan emblematic and traditional fair which this year attracted more than 10,000 people from all over Mallorca. Visitors were able to enjoy culture and tradition through more than 220 stands of local, organic and artisanal products deployed in the Plaza de Sant Marçal and on the Sa Verònica esplanade, in Sa Cabaneta.
The Fira de Tardor de Marratxí has once again established itself as a privileged showcase of local products, crafts and family activities. Everything from jewelry and infusions to knives and crafts made from clay or wood were on display. In addition, an exclusive tent was installed for local and ecological products, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to sustainability and local commerce.
During the fair, a varied programmingwhich includes everything from manufacturing demonstrations llet d’ametlla and ceramic works organized by the Municipal Ceramic School, to children’s activities such as bouncy castles, storytelling and theater shows.
There was also room for music, with the extraordinary Concert de Saint Cecilia by the Municipal Fanfare, the group’s bot ball Terra Rotja and the lively performances of batucadas and charangas that filled the streets with joy.
The opening ceremony took place in the presence of Jaume Llompartmayor of
Marratxi; Antonia Collsovereign of Fairs and Festivals; Antoni FusterMinister of the Presidency of the Consell de Mallorca; Pilar AmateMinister of Economic Promotion and Local Development; Alvaro Rocaisland director of Economic Promotion and Local Development; Ingrid de la FuenteDirector General of Industry of the Balearic Government; and other members of the Marratxí City Council government team.
Everyone attended the ball of the Giants of Marratxí, Na Bet and En
Marçal, they tasted the traditional llet d’ametlla and participated in the pigeon release organized by the Marratxí Sports Pigeon Pigeon Club.
In the words of Mayor Jaume Llompart: “We wanted to recover what we had lost, so that families would have another opportunity to walk through our streets and learn about everything that is happening in Marratxí and the rest of Mallorca. We are very excited to see so many neighbors taking advantage of an opportunity that reinforces the pride of living here“.
According to Councilor Antonia Coll: “We tried to offer activities for all audiences and The response from people has been magnificent.. “The merchants have also told us that they have had a lot of business, so they are also very happy.”
The weekend also included the XI Siurell Race, held on Saturday, which broke participation records with more than 500 runners. The profits will be donated to ASPANOB, an association which works with children with cancer in the Balearic Islands.
