The young couple who opened the Barista café in a renowned establishment in Pamplona: “It was my dream”

Coffee barista opened its doors in Pamplona with an inauguration which took place this Saturday, September 7. It is located in the Urdax Monastery Street 2 in the San Juan neighborhood.

It is very close to other establishments that we have known in this local commerce section, such as the optician Gafas rue Monasterio de Urdax 22, either the famous Danubio bar with its spectacular tortilla skewers and Russian salad.

The couple formed by the Honduran Ivis Romero 27 years old and the Colombian Robinson Vélez 37 years old have recovered a cafeteria which closed its doors by surprise a little over a year ago, the old Zucitola, in the district of San Juan with the name of Barista coffee.

“I had worked for two years at Moulin Errotazar in La Rochapea and I wanted to become independent with something of my own and not with a franchise, which It was my dream. I accomplished it thanks to my husband who motivated me to continue. and we have succeeded until today. We are very happy,” says Ivis.

Ivis has been in Pamplona for six years: “It’s already my house. I feel like family, very welcome. My husband has been here for twenty years and is also in love with the city. “We met five years ago and we have a daughter,” he says.

Regarding the opening of the premises, he emphasizes: “It went very well. They received us very well. The people were very nice. They asked us for the same coffee as usual and were delighted to find it,” says Ivis.

The cakes come from a bakery in Arre, Tania, “which is very good. So far the people who have tried them are very satisfied. Everyone who has come tells us that they have come before and are repeating their visits.”

They will also sell “the coffee beans that customers ask us for”.. We also offer bread for sale that was not previously available, along with soft drinks, hot and cold infusions, etc. », Explains the owner of the café.

Her husband Robinson Velez has touched everything after twenty years in the Navarrese capital: “I was a painter, I worked on construction sites, I was a deliveryman, everything and it’s a business inspired by the fact that my wife wanted to have her own place.”

He praises the city that welcomes him: “There is no city like Pamplona. I want to die here… many years from now. This is my house. We already have a daughter. God paved the way for us to continue here,” concludes Robinson.
