PDVSA’s Muscar plant, which distributes gas to the company’s oil fields for reinjection, was forced to halt operation of the facility.
Power outages and accidents at PDVSA’s deteriorating facilities are common. Last month, a major fire at an oil tank in the west of the country lightly burned more than 20 people.
These accidents are generally attributed by the government of Nicolas Maduro to “sabotage” by the opposition or by the United States.
