The general director of the Health Service of Castile-La Mancha (Sescam), Alberto Jara, does not understand the concentrations organized this Tuesday by Usicam at the gates of the hospitals of Cuenca, Guadalajara, Ciudad Real and Toledo due to the number of professionals healthcare has “historic figures of continued growth”.
Asked by the media about the “cuts” denounced by the unions, Jara explained that Sescam’s current workforce is 38,000 professionals, or “12,000 more than in 2015”.28% more” and, furthermore, with “50% more investment in the wage bill and much more investment in health”.
“What we do not share is the reason for the concentrations or, at least, we do not understand it. We talk about budget cuts and the opposite is happening,” he assured.
Jata also denied that there were no hires at Sescam. On the contrary, “more happened this summer than in pre-pandemic years.” Specifically, between July 1 and September 15, “more than 3,400 contracts were signed”which exceeds those of 2019 by more than 1,000 and is more than 700 more than over the same period of 2023.
