The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, regretted the tragic situation in which the Valencian municipalities affected by DANA and recognized that “There are still missing people to be foundhomes and businesses destroyed, buried in mud and many people suffering from serious shortages.
This is why Sánchez insisted that “we must continue working without distractions, with more resources, with more coordination and with more effort until normality returns in all municipalities and in all the homes affected by this tragedy.”
This was what Sánchez said during an appearance this Tuesday after the Council of Ministers during which announced a first package of measures to face DANA.
Concretely, he stressed, the Spanish government will transfer up to 72,000 euros for cases of disability; between 20,000 and 60,000 for repairing damaged houses; up to 10,300 euros to change or repair the furniture, household appliances and personal effects concerned; and up to 37,000 euros to repair elements of neighborhood communities, such as doors or elevators, which have been damaged.
In addition, Sánchez announced that there would also be direct aid to SMEs and small municipalitiesas well as the creation of a extraordinary temporary incapacity or create a line DANA guarantees $5 billion euros for businesses and self-employed people.
Among the aid announced, Sánchez reported that the Spanish government will cover 100% of emergency expenses that town halls have for DANA. “We will finance all expenses for sludge removal, accommodation and maintenance of the affected residents and we will pay 50% of all infrastructure recovery work in the years to come such as sports centers,” explained the president.
