The new Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan has been appointed Major General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Republic, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to the spokesman for the Head of State, Sherzod Asadov.
Prior to this, Khalmukhamedov served as First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. He previously served as Deputy Minister of Defense, Deputy Secretary of the Presidential Security Council and Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations.
By another decree Bajodir Kurbanov removed from the position of Minister of Defense and appointed to the position of President of the State Security Service.
At the same time, Abdusal Azizov, relieved of his position as president of the State Security Service, became available to the secretariat of the Security Council reporting to the President.
