There is already a date for the minimum wage increase

- In annual calculation, it amounts to 15,876 euros
- This translates into 54 euros more per month, for each payment
- The increase will be retroactive from January 1, 2024
- It is estimated that some 2.5 million Spanish workers will benefit from this increase.
- The SMI has increased by 54% since 2018
- Domestic workers who work every hour must receive at least 8.87 euros per hour
Continuing last year’s explanation: “The BOE published Royal Decree 145/2024, of February 6, which increases the amount of the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) to 1,134 euros in 14 installments. This salary is understood as referring to the legal working day in each activity, without including in the case of daily wages the proportional share of Sundays and public holidays. If a shorter day is worked, it will be paid pro rata. In Spain, around two and a half million workers are paid according to this fundamental reference. The minimum wage for all activities in agriculture, industry and services, without distinction of sex or age of workers, is set at 37.8 euros/day or 1,134 euros/month, depending on whether the salary is fixed per day or per month. The royal decree specifies that domestic workers who work hourly must receive a minimum of 8.87 euros for each hour worked. In the case of temporary workers, as well as temporary workers, whose services in the same company do not exceed 120 days, the amount of salary can in no case be less than 53.71 euros per day.
