Hamburg pelvis | Bus calls received the Hamburg Health Senator when they answered questions about the citizens of Wilhelmsburg in the office of two members of the SPD last week about the future of their hospital. The city of Hamburg wants to buy real estate and property of the Groß-Sand Hospital from the Archbishop of Klamman Gamburg and create a modern district clinic there. But while the time comes, at least one year will pass.

But two weeks after July 15, the emergency department and the operation of the hospital will be closed. Wilhelmsburg lies between Norder and Northwood on the island and has about 60,000 inhabitants. This number will increase significantly in the coming years from the planned new construction areas. Many industrial and port companies with appropriate risks of accidents are based on Wilhelmsburg. The next emergency department is eleven kilometers south in Garburg or ten kilometers to the north in Catholic Marienkrankenhaus in Hoenfeld.

Immediately after the plans became known at the end of May, Dr. Hans Martin Visar, who worked in the Groß-Sand operation, began a petition. “If the Hospital of Wilhelmsburg falls, the rescue system must constantly hurt and injuries from Elinsel to the nearest hospitals of the city,” it says. ”

Anyone who knows the transport situation on Elbbryuccaine knows that the collapse of the traffic will undoubtedly threaten many additional ambulance machines. “People, of course, will die from a significantly expanded transport time that could be saved,” says a petition, which received about 9,700 signatures. “Colleagues from emergency services see this the same way.”

The next department of emergency care is 30 minutes drive

“Now I do not believe in terrible people,” says Michael Wyunning, chief physician of the emergency department in Gross-nand. “Of course, we close the heavy heart department, which also causes me pain as a chief doctor,” he says. He could understand Wilhelmsburger, who now felt abandoned. “But they still care about them,” he says, for the purpose of the Asklepios clinic in Harburg, Saint -George and Catholic Marienkrankenhouse. They can be achieved on average after 30 minutes.

The fact is that out of the good 13,000 people who came to the emergency department in 2024 only in the hospital. “Everyone else was able to go home. Groß-Sand is recorded significantly fewer patients than in other hospitals, ”says Wüninning. Transformed on average day, this means that after closing, each surrounding hospital should take three additional patients. This should be done.

Wyunning also notes that the requirements for legal halls for emergency departments have been tightened since May. “According to the new legal situation, an additional acute and emergency doctor-educated doctor should be available on the clock.” But the necessary staff can hardly be found in the market and prefers to go to large hospitals, ”the doctor says. As a result, separation of emergency assistance in the current form cannot be structurally maintained in the long term.

In its press release, the archbishop speaks of the “further development” of the hospital with a greater hospital. He was grateful for the fact that a “stable solution” was found along with the health department and tax, said administrative director Alexander Becker. Groß-Sand will offer specialized services in the future instead of full supply. Nevertheless, the geriatrics and the early proposal of the neurological assistance that remained there should be moved to Marienkrankenhaus, where “modern rooms” are currently being created.

According to the press secretary of the clinic, internal medicine and a project supported by an innovation fund called “Statamed”, in which people stay only in the hospital, and then look after at home, will remain in Groß-Sand.

It is also planned that the city of Hamburg buys a plot and builds a modern district clinic there, which combines outpatient care with stationary proposals, especially in the field of internal medicine and geriatrics. But this can take time. Because social power wants to advertise this issue. Answering the question when the clinic opens, the representative of Wolfgang Arnhold, the time for the tender depends on the reform of the hospital in the federal government and the fact that “when there is an agreement with the diocese on the sale of property.” He openly says: “So, we are now at the beginning of the process.”

Senator of healthcare Schlotshauer says that for a long time she promoted Groß-Sand “sold to new hands and developed there. Unfortunately, this did not happen. ”

For the health policy of Denise Selik (Die Linke), all this takes too long. “The city had a steering group for large sand for five years. Miracle, what did they really do? ” Instead of publicly writing out the district clinic, the city should rather join the quality of the carrier, as recently “maintenance and life” when it comes to concern. An example of the clinic of the City University of Eppendorf, which was also a very successful bearer of the Altons Children’s Hospital, shows that this is possible.

When asked why the city does not open the clinic itself, the government representative Arnhold explains that it will be much easier for a free carrier to receive funding from the hospital reform transformation fund. Such carriers can also be more effective than small municipal enterprises, which, in turn, can reduce costs in the long term.

Sit down as a problem

For the surgeon Hans Martin Vismar, everything goes in the wrong direction. “I don’t want to scare anyone,” says the doctor, who has been working in the emergency department for twelve years. “But the fact is that Wilhelmsburg quickly disconnects from the island in case of floods, snow and trial lights.” Behind Pentecost, there were strong traffic jams on A1, A7 and Wilhelmsburger Reichsstrasse. “When people come with an appendix or intestinal obstruction, the operation should work quickly.” In the future, three ambulances will be more than an hour with each use and could no longer cover everything.

In addition, emergency departments in Garburg and Saint -George often do not absorb patients from overload. It is quite good that Groß-Sand is less busy: “We need a reserve.” And they said that additional training is not required for most cases. If at the same time, if you agree that sick people pass through the seated capital of Germany, this is not honest. “The patients and the wounded receive their quick help in Wilhelmsburg on the spot, you must leave everything as it is.”

The Association of the medical profession of Wilhelmsburg also sees this in this way. One of them is deeply disappointed with the planned closure, its statement says that 18 doctors were signed. The hospital could not replace the promised new district clinic. Because there should be patients in case of deterioration of the underlying disease. “Island assistance, anesthesia, intensive care medicine and surgery, which are an integral part of comprehensive inpatient care, should be omitted.” Doctors also demand that Hamburg capture the hospital. A city that spends millions on the Olympic acquisition should also be able to collect money to ensure a detonant area.
