“There is no need to be in a hurry”

The First Vice President and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, confirmed that the government remains in contact with all its parliamentary partnersincluding Junts, to try to move forward on the path of the deficit after having postponed its treatment, although it avoided giving precise deadlines for reaching an agreement.

“We don’t need to be in a hurry “If we reach an agreement,” Montero said in remarks to reporters in the corridors of the Senate after the government decided to withdraw the parliamentary procedure of capping spending, lacking sufficient support to carry it out.

In this context, Montero said that the government “will take advantage of every opportunity for dialogue,” while insisting on his warning that if the path to stability is not approved, Territories will find themselves without 12 billion euros.

When asked if negotiations with Junts were currently open, Montero confirmed that his executive was discussing with “all groups” that support the Governmentalthough he avoided specifying deadlines for reaching an agreement with Carles Puigdemont’s party.
