The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaškadenied this Saturday that on October 29, Dana Day in the province of Valencia, there was no “information blackout” on the part of the government in relation to the flooding of the Poyo ravine, as declared this Friday by the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, during his appearance before Les Corts Valencianes.
“There were all of them, There were all the necessary and precise alerts and on a permanent basis. This was ongoing communication and, obviously, at no point during this period was there a power outage, but rather timely, necessary and accurate information that continued over time.” , declared the minister at the end of the meeting of the Coordination Center (Cecopi), at the Emergency Center of the Generalitat, which coordinates the repair work of the damage caused by the damage.
This Friday, during his appearance in court, Mazón assured that they did not count “with sufficient information and on time” on the “deadly flood” of October 29, and regretted that the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ) had sent “a simple email” to report a “brutal” flood on the Rambla del Poyo.
When asked about this, Marlaška replied that it was “absolutely satisfied” of the work carried out both by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and by the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar, and denied that there was “an information blackout, quite the contrary”.
The minister added that Aemet and CHJ “automatically” provided information “to all competent institutions in case of emergency”. Marlaška reiterated the Government’s support for the Generalitat Valenciana in the reconstruction of the municipalities affected by the dana, with the “personal and material means required” by emergency management
