This Sunday, thousands of opponents called to take the exam to try to obtain a position as a journalist – Information and Content category – at Spanish Radio Television (RTVE). However, officials of the public entity suspended the opposition a few minutes after it was held for “reasons of force majeure”. The USO union explained the reason for this decision: there had been “a leak in the test questions.”
The news came like a bucket of cold water to all the nervous candidates waiting on the Somosaguas campus of the Complutense University of Madrid and that they had been waiting for this day for months with great hope for the future, especially after the date of the call refused to come out.
“It’s a situation of absolute helplessness,” he added.says one of the concerned opponents to ABC. “It was about ten past ten and people were starting to get desperate. “A quarter past ten… what’s going on?” says the same source, detailing how they learned what was happening: through a tweet.
“Someone shouted ‘the unions demand suspension’. And everyone looked at their cell phones to check it. Then people started to despair. Some said it was a hoax so that people go away and examine themselves less,” he says.
“People from London, Valladolid, Galicia… Who covers the expenses?”
Affected by the suspension of oppositions
Thousands of opponents learned about it through the union’s statement and through the media, until they discovered the official announcement of the postponement by RTVE.
“There was people knock on doorspeople crying, a girl with a broken heart… People coming from London, Valladolid, Galicia… Who is responsible for the expenses”, she wonders, affected.
On social networks, countless messages from outraged candidates who wanted to denounce the situation by showing the frustrated opponents without understanding anythingcrowded in front of the closed doors of the different faculties, demanding explanations which did not arrive.
FromRTVE assures that it will be announced soon the date of the new appeal however, according to the person concerned that ABC was able to contact, “all exam dates are scheduled until the end of the year” and the disappointment and despair of the suspension after months and months of effort are added to this by the uncertainty of not knowing, once again, when they will be able to face the ordeal.
