This organization’s Supermarket Study ranked the best-known supermarket chains based on their price. The basket of this analysis is made up of a few 238 food and pharmaceutical products both big brands and basics. To do this, they visited some 1,070 establishments spread over 65 sites and they also included prices from major online stores.

These are the cheapest supermarkets according to the OCU
According to the OCU, the average annual cost in 2024 of the basket used for its analysis is 6,342 €. This figure is higher than last year.
This organization points out that the shopping basket has become more expensive in recent years. “In 2022, it had already increased by almost 13% compared to 2021, and in 2023, by more than 12%. This year, the average on-chain price increase is gentler, but it is still an increase: 2.9% which is added to the high prices of previous years», They add.
During the annual price survey they verified that the differences are reducing, but it is important to choose the establishment carefully to make the purchase because this can result in a average annual savings of around 1,272 €.
THE 3 cheapest supermarkets According to this study, they are as follows:
- Danny: These establishments are located in Granada, Jaén, Almería and Granada.
- Tifer: They are found in the cities of Castile and León.
- Déza: They are in Cordoba.
They are followed on the list by Family Cash, Más Ahorro, Alcampo and Súper Carmela. To close the top 10 of the cheapest establishments, we must add Lidl, Cash Fresh and Consum.
The most expensive channels according to the Organization of Consumers and Users
At the top of the ranking of most expensive supermarkets in Spain the stores are located Sánchez Romero, Altoaragón and Amazon.
At the end of the year, purchasing from one of these establishments can cost you between 900€ and 1,800€ more than at Dani, the cheapest supermarkets. Among the most expensive chains there are also some established at national level such as Carrefour Express, BM, Hipercor, Condis, El Corte Inglés or Supercor.
