Hurricane force winds will be a new thing With the arrival of storm Bert, AEMET is issuing an alert for certain cities which will be at risk. What seems impossible will eventually become reality, in this day and age where time can end up being important. We have seen the importance of being aware of a series of details that can be essential and that we perhaps would not have imagined until now. These are times of change that we can begin to see materialize over the coming days.
Some cities will be in danger in the coming days and they could become important. Storm Bert is wreaking havoc across much of Europe, fortunately we are far from the epicenter of this phenomenon. We will receive notable news regarding this storm this Sunday and in specific areas of the country. Warning of significant hurricane winds could be what makes a significant difference in a few days, when anything is possible. Now will be the time to start thinking about what lies ahead and how to deal with it.
These are the cities at risk
We saw a few alerts activated this weekendin which it seemed like the situation might end up being very different. Without a doubt, we must be aware of a series of changes that we may not have taken into account until now.
It is time to bet clearly on these changes that we did not have in mind until now. We will just have to visualize a changing situation that could be the one that accompanies us in this last part of the rainiest month of November in recent times.
The weekend can become the prelude to a week in which we are really faced with a situation that we might not have considered until now. It’s time to clearly bet on certain elements that will eventually come true in one way or another.
From bad weather, we can move on to relative stability, or even an increase in temperatures that has nothing to do with what we might expect. Concretely, we must begin to prepare for the changes that could be a constant in our country.
THE AEMET does not hesitate to launch important alerts in areas where we may actually have significant risk awaiting us. The situation will become more complicated as we see notable phenomena occurring.
Hurricane force winds arrive from Storm Bert
The Meteored experts explain to us in their forecast: “A frontal system associated with powerful storm Bert will arrive tomorrow afternoon to the northwest of the peninsula. This cyclone will pass a long distance from the peninsula but depressions will form further south, generating a significant pressure gradient with nearby anticyclones. The pressure gradient is the difference in pressure between two points near the Earth’s surface. A large pressure gradient means that the isobars (lines of equal pressure) are very close to each other and therefore the winds are very strong at the surface. All this will cause a storm of wind and waves that will force AEMET to activate alerts in seven autonomous communities for tomorrow Sunday. Some warnings were upgraded from level yellow to orange, anticipating significant risk from wind and waves in certain areas.
The areas most affected by this phenomenon are: “It is likely that hurricane force wind gusts will occur in the Cantabrian Mountains and in the elevated areas of the Pyrenees. The wind will blow from the south, going up the prominent orography of the Cantabrian Mountains, giving rise to mountain waves which, in turn, can intensify the gusts on the northern slope. Speeds can reach 120 km/h on peaks and hills, so outdoor activities in high mountains are strongly discouraged. On the other hand, it is likely that 90 km/h will be exceeded in the coastal areas of La Coruña, Montaña de Ourense, interior of Asturias, Cantabria, extreme east of the Basque Country. “70 km/h will be easily exceeded on the coast and east of Galicia, the north of Castile and León, the interior of Asturias, a good part of Cantabria and the Basque Country and the western Pyrenees. “
Extreme precautions should be taken in these regions of Spain: “In the following cities, the wind could pose a risk to daily activities, especially outdoors, due to gusts of 70 to 80 km/h: Vigo , Ourense, Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, Lugo, Oviedo, Santander, Bilbao, Vitoria, Pamplona, Burgos and León. Being the areas most affected by this wind, which can be dangerous, going outside can become a challenge in some cities.
