THE DANA which devastated the Valencian Community has already left more than 200 dead and dozens missing. In addition to deaths, the cold snap left hundreds of residents without basic necessities, access to running water, food or clothing. For this reason, different spaces have been set up in Barcelona and the metropolitan area to collect donations.

Help the teams

This Saturday, the first two teams of the Barcelona system of aid to municipalities affected by DANA, with more than 70 professionals, left for Paiporta (Valencia), to join the help tasks. Over the next few days they will work together with the emergency services of the Valencian Community to try to return to normality after the devastating effects of the cold in many towns in the region.

The municipality of Paiporta, in the Horta Sud of Valencia, is one of the areas most affected by the floods. Thus, the first of the two teams assigned there is made up of 32 professionals, including firefighters and health personnel, in addition to ten support vehicles, which will be used to lift large volumes and free the obstacles that block the roads , reinforce structures or extract water. . , among other functions.

The second contingent is made up of 27 agents of the Urban Guard and 12 members of the Barcelona Emergency and Social Emergencies Center (Cuesb), among whom there are psychologists, social workers and logistics intervention technicians. Yesterday Friday, a convoy of 60 firefighters left for the Valencian Community, as well as a dozen forensic experts, to help identify the deceased.
