These are the health risks of waking up late, study finds

A University of South Australia study found that sleeping and waking up late can make you more sedentary. The research analyzed patients with type 2 diabetes, but the conclusion holds true for everyone: Those who sleep later do less physical activity during the day.

people have different sleeping habits, some prefer to go to bed and get up early (morning people) and others later (evening people). According to the study, Late sleepers sit up an average of 28 minutes longer and they make a 56% less exercise than early risers.

This is because the the body produces hormones such as cortisolwhich increase energy in the morning. When you sleep late, your body doesn’t make good use of these hormones, which can impact your mood and energy level for exercise.

Lack of sunlight and reduced time spent on physical activity also contribute. sedentary lifestyle, increasing the risk of chronic diseases.
