They are asking the administration for help to ensure a decent life

Elena and her husband Juan are afraid of losing their jobs. Every day, they are forced to leave their office jobs to take care of their son, with a 66% disability and dependent. The school where the little one studies does not have an assistant to help him meet the most basic needs, so she and her husband do it. Their situation is untenable.

Over the past year, they have had to quit your job almost daily and several times. Everything to go to your child’s school, and for example change his diaper.

“There are times when it happens two or three times,” the mother says. This means that you will be away from work for about 40 minutes, which is why your bosses have already “gotten your attention.”

Everything to ensure your child is taken care of as he or she deserves. Juan suffers from autism spectrum disorder, hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder. This makes him dependent on his parents. He also cannot eat solids and wears a diaper to go to the bathroom, because the little one does not know how to express his need to go to the toilet. For his part, and as his father explains in this video, teachers refuse to change it because that is not his function, it is that of a technical educational assistant.

These profiles are “in charge of care tasks. They help with housework and hygiene, as well as at meal times,” he explains. Ana Cobos, President of the Spanish Confederation of Psychopedagogy and Guidance Organizations (COPOE).

Elena and Juan have medical reports that prove this need. Despite this, the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha still does not grant them this status despite their numerous requests. So, they have failed. They cannot continue to abandon their work, but now, when they go to pick up the child from school, they find that the little one has been in a dirty diaper for hours“It’s shameful,” says the father, who does not understand how the Administration does not help them so that the child can have a decent life and you don’t have to spend so many hours going to the toilet in the diaper.

Sources from the Ministry of Education confirm to LaSexta that they are already studying the case of this course and justify this the previous year This assistance was not granted to them because of the child’s age.“They were counting on a maturation process and that 3-year-olds usually adapt, but in my son’s case, that’s not the case,” explains Elena Macía, Juan’s mother.

For his part, Cobos is a clear sign that the Administration is making this investment: “There can be no children without this help. It is not a privilege, it is a need to be satisfied.”he says.

After many requests, it was precisely this Friday that Juan and Elena received the inspection visor. They now hope to obtain a solution so that their child has the resources he deserves to receive the education he deserves.
